Brașov, Romania: 25 July 2024 (for immediate use) – The organisers of the Brașov Running Festival 2024 are proud to announce that the distance running legend Paula Radcliffe will be the Ambassador for this year’s event, which will be held on 21-22 September.
Radcliffe was the 2005 World Athletics Championships marathon gold medallist, the fastest woman in the world over the classic marathon distance between 2003 to 2019 when she held the world record with 2:15:25, a three-time winner of both the London and New York Marathons as well as a half marathon and cross country world champion.
“I’m really looking forward to coming to Brașov for this event, which shows such remarkable ambition. I’ve heard amazing things about the
competition, the organisation, and the Romanian public. I’m excited to experience it all first hand and witness some incredible performances”, said Radcliffe.
“Two years ago, Kenya’s renowned Mary Keitany, the most decorated marathoner in the World Marathon Majors series, was the ambassador of the Brașov Running Festival. This year, the event will welcome another distinguished guest and running icon and we are honored to have Paula Radcliffe join us as the Festival’s Ambassador,” commented Director of the Brașov Running Festival Daniel Santa.
”It’s thrilling to have a former marathon world champion, multiple half marathon world champion, and two-time world cross country champion run in Brașov. This will undoubtedly elevate the stature of our competition and Romanian athletics as well as enhance Brașov’s place on the global running map,” added Santa.
The fourth edition of the Brașov Running Festival will feature the European Road Mile on Saturday 21 Sepetmber, where once again the continent’s top middle-distance runners will gather in a bid to revise the record books.
On Sunday 22 September, tRUNSylvania International 10K takes place with many of the world’s distance runner once again doing battle over the fast three-lap course close to the historic city centre of Brașov.
Elite fields for both races will be announced in the coming weeks after the conclusion of the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
