We suggest one race a week, but most high schoolers are doing a dual meet a week and an invite.
For much of the season, you have to build yourself toward the important meets.
Your workout today, warm-up nice and slow, get in some good stride outs, and run your race, 800m, 1,500m or 5,000m, then, a long, slow cool-down.
